TOS USS ENTERPRISE NCC-1701 FIRST PILOT HULL MARKING and WINDOW DECAL SET for the 1/350 Polar Lights Model kit by HDAMODELWORX
These decals match how the 1st pilot version was painted for the TOS studio model. The model had no lighting. These decals are designed to replicate that look.
This set provides all the 1st pilot hull markings and windows to build a accurate model.
The 1st pilot version of the USS Enterprise was not built with lighting in mind. As originally designed the hull of the ship was completely smooth and the 'windows' were black material/paint applied to the surface. These decals are designed to replicate the look of the original 11 foot shooting miniature.
In order to get the best results it's recommended to fill in the existing window openings by inserting the clear window parts, fill with putty and sand the surface smooth to the hull.
The attached pictures show the use of the kit supplied window inserts. The factory fit is good but there's a visible seam around the windows that needs to be filled and sanded smooth in order to replicate the look of the original 11 foot model.
Also included are the triangles seen on the the saucer bottom which are different from the ones seen on the production version of the studio model.
There are several windows along the saucer edge that also appear to have just been outlined rectangles and/or lightly shaded rectangles. Decals are provided to replicate this look also. See reference pictures above for placement.
Extras of the window decals are and the nacelle power plug shaped decals are provide on the sheet if needed.
